There is no Memorandum 47. There is no Research Division. Source 47 was invented so that it could be cited, and it is cited on most pages of the site.
Repetition of a citation creates the appearance of authority. A bracketed number at the end of a sentence looks like work was done. After the tenth time, a reader stops clicking and starts trusting the shape of the footnote instead of its contents.
Every claim below is attributed to it. Some are plausible, some are impossible, and one is about the Moon. The footnote treats them identically, which is the point: a source that can support anything supports nothing.
