The record
Beginning in April 2022, the State of Texas bused migrants from the border to other cities, including New York, Chicago, Denver, Philadelphia, Los Angeles, and Washington, D.C.
By early 2024 the program had transported more than 102,000 people, and the state had spent more than $148 million on it, according to reporting by The Texas Tribune and NPR.
The site cites this program as proof that people are being bused into Texas to vote. The best-documented migrant busing operation in recent Texas history ran in the opposite direction, was paid for by Texas, and had nothing to do with voter registration.
The underlying facts are real. The direction, the sponsor, and the purpose have been swapped.
